Diet is a difficult subject with Crohn’s. I know what foods are generally OK with me, and what foods have given me problems before. I have also read around and compared notes with other people with Crohn’s. Every one is very different when it comes to food and how it effects their stomach. I know that there are some common areas that effect some people but not others. I used to have a lot of trouble with too much roughage in which rules out a lot of fruit and veg. I am a lot freer now with what I am able to eat, now that I don’t have any active Crohn’s; that said I am still careful with what I eat. I have read that a lot of people with Crohn’s have other dietary limitations, such as lactose intolerances, but fortunately this has never been the case for me. What I want to do here is to share some ideas for recipes that are gentle on the gut and have been or can be adapted to cater for dietary limitations. These are recipes that I’ve come across, some I’ve modified a little more to suit me. Hopefully it’s a start for people looking around for help on foods. If you’re reading this and have a recipe to share then please feel free to get in touch!
