#keepbritaintalking

Morning all,

How are we doing in lock down? Chipping away at the days here, enjoying the extra time to write. I think its so important for those of us staying at home to keep busy with some form of hobby. Otherwise its so easy to get stuck in a downward spiral of worry. We need to keep our brains busy with something constructive in times like these. On a similar note: talking is so vital right now. Talking to others in our household, messaging and calling friends and family in isolation will make someones day and help all of us through this, which is why I’m supporting the #keepbritaintalking campaign.

Nothing to do with the article… just amused with the indecision over food…

I’ve been doing my bit for the #keepbritaintalking campaign that’s going around. Last night I saw an advert on the telly with the comedian Rob Beckett advertising this campaign. He was encouraging us to get talking to friends and family, either picking up the phone to call or messaging our nearest and dearest. I know some people who live alone, and I can only imagine how much harder the self isolation must be. I’m so fortunate that I have Sarah with me and that we can help each other through this. Having our phones and tablet hooked up to the internet allows us to keep in touch with people, to make this all feel less lonely. So doing my bit here: get talking people. Pick up the phone and get in touch, and #keepbritaintalking!

I admit: the days are starting to blur a little. I find myself having to check what day it is on my phone in the absence of the structure work provides. Needless to say when this is all over I will have a whole new appreciation of routine. In the absence of a job, I’m spending a lot of my time working on here, either writing the articles or reading what other people have to say. True its not paid work, but its something to keep my mind active and hopefully my ramblings will give give a few of you a bit of amusment.

This morning I finally started exercising. I did a few pressups today, and we might go for our allowed walk for exercise this afternoon. I’m not as intense as I was before all of this started, but I’ll get there. As a gardener I’m used to being on my feet most of the day, so all of a sudden being at home sitting down so much is showing. My lower back has been stiffening up, so a walk will do me wonders. Aside from flexibility im looking forward to some fresh air! I’m going to make more effort to get moving and exercising more. I’ll have a think of a little routine and share it on here.

Thanks for reading, stay safe
