Awesome night out

Last night was the first proper night out on the town in ages, and one that was quite different to me. On my current spell of not being able to drink I have been to my local a couple of times and had a glass of coke, but never stayed out particularly late. Last night however, I went out with a few friends, and ended up spending the night as I would have done had I been out drinking: going to a couple of pubs, attempting to dance in the Bull, and getting food afterwards, before rolling in at about half 2.  The only difference was that I didn’t drink any alcohol; my friends did and I was cool with that, but I remained stone-cold sober. It’s a bit of a strange one: I’ve only ever really enjoyed that sort of evening while drinking myself, and for some reason had it in mind that I wouldn’t enjoy it as much if I was sober. But last night I found that I didn’t actually miss the beer! True: my drink selection was quite restricted, but that just meant I didn’t have as many drinks, while still having an awesome night.

I now have just under 2 weeks until I am definitely off of the antibiotics (yes I know: I’ve made similar statements before…). I have been advised to give my body 72 hours to let them get out of my system before I have a beer, so we’re talking 2 weeks and 2 days from now (not that I’m counting of course). I look forward to raising a glass in celebration! In the future I’ll still enjoy a pint or two when I go out, but its kind of refreshing to know that I can still have a great night out without touching a drop of alcohol.

Have a great weekend people
