Quick update

Morning all!

Just thought its time to put a little update on here with how things have been going. Nothing much has really stood out with the recovery lately, hence the lack of excited posts going up. I’ve carried on feeling a little better each day, made sure that I’ve left the house each day even if just to wander into town and back, to make sure that I get some exercise in. I’m still pleasantly surprised with how quickly I’ve got to where I am now, and the amount I can do. I think a lot of people, myself included, expected me to be in a much worse state than I’m in. The fact I’m getting out, able to drive to see friends, even doing light exercises most days, is really satisfying.

I do have a meeting with the surgeon on Friday, to check up on my progress. Once he’s given me the once over, done all of the necessary prodding and poking, I’m hoping he’ll be able to give me an idea of where I go from here, and if I’m out of “potential hernia” territory. I know that for a period of time after the op a potential risk of “overdoing it” is that you can bring on a hernia as the stomach muscles and lining is weak from the incision. This obviously becomes less of an issue as the body repairs itself; I’ve heard that this is usually 8 weeks or so after the operation that you begin to elude this risk. My op was nearly 7 weeks ago, so I think I am getting there; this meeting towards the end of week 7 should see some answers there!

In terms of work: although some days I feel like I’m almost ready, I’m staying off on doctors orders. Having finished a 6 week sick note, I’ve been signed off for another month, which will take me past my meeting with the surgeon. Again this is another thing I am looking to find out from the meeting.

Thats a brief update for you anyway! I’m still here and doing very well. Will write again soon when I have more information. Have a great day everyone!
